Description

Abstract: We introduced technology-based personalized Social Emotional Learning (SEL) tools into inpatient youth psychiatric settings and compared technology-enhanced group sessions to groups as usual. We collected data during two-week periods for each group and examined satisfaction of patients, parents, and group leaders using surveys and focus groups. Overall, youth, parents, and group leaders reported being satisfied with the intervention. Technology-based tools can enhance patient’s involvement and active participation in group treatment.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: 1. Participants will become famililar with technology-based interventions for social and emotional learning that were used in the inpatient psychiatry setting, including the adaptations needed to put the intervention into place.
2. Participants will understand, from the point of view of patients, parents, and group leaders, satisfaction with and critique of a technology-based mental health intervention.
