Description

Abstract: MayoExpertRecommendations is a Clinical Decision Support application that provides recommendations for a patient during an outpatient visit. The service utilizes a Clinical Decision Support Hook (CDS Hook), which supports only synchronous callbacks, requiring the client system to delay its workflow as it waits for a response from the service. This presentation will describe how MER used a CDS Hook to implement a high-latency service without compromising usability for the physician.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: The attendee could articulate the challenges with integrating a high-latency, high throughput Clinical Decision Support application with a CDS Hook request, and how MayoExpertRecommendations addressed this challenge. They can also have knowledge of an architectural pattern that could be used to design similar applications.
