Description

Abstract: Clinical diagnostic testing is traditionally done in labs and doctors’ offices by trained people - what happens when we send these tests 'into the wild’? Specifically, what happens when you bring these tests into the homes of health consumers and what possibilities exist for care efficiency, continuity, and illness tracking when you couple the basic test kit with smart phone technology. This Ignite talk will describe a research project focused on home-based diagnostic testing of influenza, flu@home.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: Participants will learn about opportunities and challenges of implementating diagnostic self-tests into the US healthcare system, based on the flu@home research study.
