Description

Abstract: Through the evaluation and integration of existing maturity models, along with knowledge gained from the IHS HIT Modernization Project, a comprehensive capability maturity model toolkit was developed. Attendees will be able to use the domains of the HIT Maturity Model Toolkit to perform a self-assessment and utilize suggestions for interventions to identify opportunities to work toward continuous improvement in their HIT ecosystems with the goal of ultimately benefiting care teams and, consequently, improving healthcare outcomes.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: Health information technology (HIT) capability maturity models (CMM) are tools that allow healthcare facility chief health information officers and technical leadership to assess their HIT capability levels and set goals to progress their maturity, both at the local level and at the level of supporting organizations. Attendees will be able to use the comprehensive domains of the proposed HIT Maturity Model Toolkit to perform an organizational self-assessment. This assessment can inform a path toward continually strengthening their HIT ecosystems with the goal of ultimately benefiting care teams and, consequently, improving healthcare outcomes.
