Description

Abstract: Cyberattacks can occur at the “speed of light” (1) simultaneously hit multiple systems and targets, and result in operational stoppages and compromise patient safety. Increased volume of cyberattacks, heightened targeting of the healthcare sector, and the shortage of cybersecurity personnel, highlight the need for a holistic approach to mitigating cyber vulnerabilities and risk. This study supports the utility of cyber vulnerability profile to mitigate risk, protect patients, and secure our vital healthcare system.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: The implications of this study will give clinical informaticians, primarily CMIOs and CISOs, knowledge beyond describing threats, vulnerabilities, and implications of cyberattacks. The practical cyber vulnerability profile provides a framework for decreasing cyber vulnerabilities so that cyberattacks do not jeopardize operations or patient safety. Figure 1, shown below is the attendee's take-away tool: 4-dimensions of Cyber Vulnerability framework
