Description

Abstract: Physician leaders can use modern, online tools such as social media to encourage clinical engagement, professional development, and technology adoption among their peers. Websites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Doximity allow clinicians to learn from one another, network with others doing similar work, and reach physicians in ways that other communication tools cannot. Successful messages share certain criteria that lead to increased sharing and reach.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: The attendee will learn how to communicate with busy physicians about clinical technology via the non- traditional methods of online social media. Specific websites that physicians frequent will be discussed, focusing on benefits and disadvantages of each tool. Attendees will learn how to properly craft a message to maximize the attention it receives and encourage its virality. Clinician leaders will understand how social media can facilitate change management, professional development, and physician engagement.
