Abstract: Efficient communication among healthcare professionals is crucial for patient care; however, the factors that influence adoption of secure communication technologies remain unclear. To define these factors and the strength of their relationships, we surveyed physicians and advanced practice providers within our health system on their perceptions of the Vocera communication platform one year after rollout. Perceptions of Vocera as useful and used by most people strongly correlated with greater intent to use Vocera.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: After visiting this poster, attendees will understand the factors that influence the adoption of a new health information technology (HIT) within a hospital system. Specifically, attendees will see how clinicians’ attitudes towards the Vocera mobile communication platform influence clinicians’ intent to use it, which will inform strategies to increase the use of new technologies at attendees' home institutions.
