Abstract: Clinical provider burnout is a growing problem in healthcare that impacts providers, their patients, and clinical operations. Here we assess the role of a virtual scribe system on providers, patients, and operations. Our preliminary findings demonstrate statistically significant reductions in provider time spent charting with overall, per appointment, EHR administrative time savings of 5.9 minutes. These findings suggest that a virtual scribe solution may improve provider administrative burden, consequently improving burnout rates.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: We present our protocol design and preliminary findings regarding an assessment of the impact of virtual scribe systems on patients, providers, and operations. We address methods for assessing the impact of a virtual scribe system on stakeholders. Finally, we present preliminary positive results linking virtual scribe systems to reduced overall provider EMR usage.
